Business Photography and Video in the Flathead Valley: Costs and Packages

Business photography in the Flathead Valley starts at $850 for a focused photo and video shoot. For small businesses in Whitefish, Kalispell, Bigfork, and Columbia Falls, that includes eight edited photos, one short-form video, and three additional video clips, planned around what your business needs most.

I’m Danielle, a commercial photographer and videographer based in Whitefish, Montana. I work with local businesses to create photography and video for websites, Google Business Profiles, social media, and other marketing needs.

Here’s what each package costs, what’s included, and what to expect when we work together.

These packages are designed for small, independently owned businesses in the Flathead Valley. You can compare the full package details and booking information on the Local Offer page.

How to Choose the Right Photography & Video Package

The right package depends on what your business needs right now:

  • If you have a specific problem to solve, such as an outdated menu or a new product launch, the Focused Shoot gives us a defined goal and a manageable scope.

  • If your website needs a broader refresh or you need a larger collection of photographs and video, the Content Shoot provides more variety.

  • If your business changes with the seasons or you need a steady supply of current marketing content, the Quarterly Shoot gives us a recurring production schedule.

You don’t need to arrive with a complete creative brief. Part of my job is helping you identify what to photograph, how to use it, and which deliverables will be most useful to your business.

How the Business Photography Process Works

Hiring a photographer should not mean guessing what you’ll receive or trying to explain your vision on the fly. My process is designed to establish expectations, clarify the scope, and make sure we’re aligned before shoot day.

1. Start with a 15-minute introduction call

We’ll talk about your business, what you need photographed, where you’ll use the content, and whether we’re a good fit. It’s a chance to ask questions, explain your priorities, and determine which package makes the most sense for your goals. When you schedule this call you’ll get a Client Guide on what to expect and how to make the most of working together throughout this process.

2. Tell me about your business in your own words

If you’d like to move forward, I’ll send you a short client survey. This gives you space to explain your business, your priorities, what makes you different, and what you want the photography to accomplish. You don’t need to know exactly which shots you need before we begin. Your answers give me the information I need to develop a production plan around your business.

3. Review your proposal and shot list

Using your survey responses, I’ll prepare a proposal outlining the project scope, deliverables, and pricing, along with a shot list tailored to your needs. You’ll have the opportunity to review and approve the proposal and shot list before we proceed. This is where we establish what we’re creating and make sure the plan aligns with your priorities.

4. Sign the contract and pay the invoice

Once you’ve approved the proposal and shot list, I’ll send the formal contract and invoice. Your shoot date is secured once the required contract and payment steps are complete, according to the booking terms. The agreement establishes the project scope, payment schedule, deliverables, and usage rights.

5. Prepare for shoot day

You’ll have a clear plan before I arrive in the Client Guide and proposal, so we can spend our time creating the content your business needs. From the initial conversation through final delivery, the goal is to make the process organized, collaborative, and straightforward.

What Goes Into the Cost of Business Photography & Video?

The price of a commercial shoot covers more than the time spent taking photographs. It includes planning, equipment, on-location production, image selection, editing, and delivery of a finished set of assets.

After a two-hour shoot, I may spend another six to ten hours selecting and editing the final images and video. Every photograph is color corrected and retouched individually, with the goal of producing a consistent set that represents your business accurately. You also receive a curated selection of finished images rather than hundreds of near-duplicates. Choosing the strongest frames is part of the job.

If you’d rather choose your own favorites, you can add an expanded proofing gallery for an additional editing fee.

Each package has a defined scope and a specified number of final deliverables. That means you know what you’re receiving before booking, and the production can be planned around those priorities.

What about usage rights?

Every local package includes ongoing organic usage for your business’s website, Google Business Profile, and social media. Paid advertising is licensed separately because it involves a different commercial use.

I retain the copyright to the photographs and video, while your business receives the usage rights specified in the agreement.

If you need additional photographs, expanded licensing, drone coverage, or rush delivery, we can discuss those options before production.

Business Photography and Video for Local Businesses

Different businesses need different types of content. A restaurant may need food, preparation, and atmosphere photography. A retailer may need product details, staff portraits, and images of the space. A lodging business may need interiors, amenities, and photographs that help prospective guests understand the experience.

My work with local businesses includes food and product photography, interiors, founder and team portraits, and short-form video for digital marketing.

Depending on your needs, a shoot may include:

  • Food and product photography that shows the details of what you make.

  • Storefronts, interiors, and atmosphere that help customers understand what it feels like to visit.

  • Owner and team portraits for your website, press, and Google Business Profile.

  • Vertical short-form video for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

  • Talk-to-camera videos for introductions, announcements, or new offerings.

  • Drone photography and video, subject to location, airspace, and operating restrictions.

Beyond the Flathead Valley, I’ve worked with Tourism Fernie, Tentsile, and Modl Outdoors on destination and outdoor brand content.

The approach is the same whether we’re photographing a local business or producing content for a larger brand: establish the objective, plan the production, and deliver assets designed for their intended use.

What to Have Ready Before Your Shoot

You don’t need to have everything figured out before we talk. Once we’ve agreed on the project, the survey, proposal, shot list, and Client Guide will help you prepare.

A few things are particularly useful to consider:

Where the photographs will be used. Website, Google Business Profile, menu, social media, or print. Knowing the intended use helps determine the composition and formats we need.

Your priorities. Think about the products, dishes, services, or moments that make customers come back. We want to capture what matters most to your business.

Your location and timing. A busy restaurant, a quiet studio, and a working bakery all have different production requirements. We’ll plan around your space and the activity you want to show.

The people involved. If you want employees, family members, or other people in the photographs, we’ll discuss that ahead of time and address any necessary permissions.

Your availability. Even a short talk-to-camera video requires a little preparation. We’ll identify what we need before the shoot so you can feel comfortable and ready.

The more clearly we define the goal beforehand, the more effectively we can use our time on location.
